Hua-Ping Chen is now a professor in the School of Computer Science, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He is also a member of National High Performance Computing Center at Hefei. He received his B.Eng. degree and Ph.D. degree from University of Science and Technology of China in 1987 and 1997, respectively. As a visiting scholar, he worked in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from July 2000 to Dec. 2000, the University of Chicago from Apr. 2001 to Apr. 2002.

Hua- Ping Chen has received over 12 research grants, which are supported by National High Technology Research Plan (863 Plan), National Science Foundation of China(NSFC) ,Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and National Development and Reform Commission. He has also got the supporting plan of New Century Excellent Talent (NCET) from Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. He has published more than 50 papers in academic journals and conferences.
